Services

THE UPPER ROOM offers unique services that are not currently available to clergy and men religious.

Services will include skilled listening, para-professional counseling, information and referral, suicide prevention and crisis intervention, as well as reassurance calls to the elderly priests, Religious and deacons who either live alone or need companionship during the day or night.

THE UPPER ROOM will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Trained volunteers among Roman Catholic priests, Religious Brothers and Sisters, will staff the Line along with selected lay persons. While Sisters will be asked to help respond to the calls on the Line they are not eligible to call the hotline for their personal concerns.

Through these services, THE UPPER ROOM desires to contribute to the spiritual development of the Diocesan clergy and members of Religious Institutes of men in the United States, while supporting their physical, emotional, and mental health needs.

Calls to THE UPPER ROOM CRISIS HOTLINE will also include calls concerning Religious Life, depression, alcohol problems, drugs and other addictive behaviors, employee and family problems, financial concerns, housing, transportation, and job/employment needs. Others will include legal problems, loneliness/isolation, medical concerns, problems with parishioners, relationships, sexuality, and any other concern the caller may want to discuss.
