Mission

THE UPPER ROOM CRISIS HOTLINE is a unique, comprehensive national crisis hotline serving the needs of clergy and men religious. It is a private, not-for-profit Corporation registered in the State of Illinois. A Board of Directors consisting of clergy, men and women religious, and select laypersons interested in promoting the welfare of priests and men religious are the directive body for the governance of the hotline.

The mission of The Upper Room Crisis Hotline is to provide 24/7/365 telephone hotline services for Roman Catholic priests, deacons, and vowed religious brothers. The services provided are counseling, information and referral, suicide prevention/crisis intervention, and reassurance calls to the elderly.

It is fitting then, that THE UPPER ROOM be a place where brothers and sisters can meet to exchange confidences, to pray, and to mutually support one another in their daily ministry.

"WHEN JESUS SAW HIM LYING THERE

AND KNEW THAT HE HAD BEEN THERE A LONG TIME,

HE SAID TO HIM,

'DO YOU WANT TO BE MADE WELL?"

John 5:6

We respond with the man at the bath; yes, Lord, I want to be made whole. Which of us does not want to be made whole? Seeking to be so is part of our human journey. Our rectories and monasteries are graced with men who value being whole, who reflectively strive for balance and peace in their lives. The Upper Room is there to support these men in their journey to wholeness and holiness.
